Captain H. Kumar began his illustrious maritime career in 1995 as a Trainee Navigating Officer with the prestigious Shipping Corporation of India. His exceptional performance in all Competency Examinations conducted by the Mercantile Marine Department earned him outstanding recognition. After obtaining his Second Mate certification, he joined Wallem Ship Management, Hong Kong, where he gained invaluable experience commanding diverse vessel types including Ultra Large Crude Carriers (ULCC), VLCC, container vessels, general cargo ships, and chemical tankers. His expertise and leadership led to his promotion to Master rank with Seaarland Ship Management, where he commanded chemical and product carriers with distinction.

Captain Kumar's passion for maritime education emerged early in his career. In 2003, he began sharing his knowledge as a part-time lecturer at Coimbatore Marine College while continuing his sea service. Recognizing the transformative power of quality education, he dedicated himself fully to the teaching profession in 2009.

Under Captain Kumar's visionary leadership, SeaSkills has achieved DG Shipping approval, ISO 9001:2015 certification, and the prestigious CIP Grade A1 rating—the highest recognition for maritime training institutes in India. His unique combination of extensive sea command experience and academic expertise has established SeaSkills as a premier institution where theoretical knowledge seamlessly integrates with practical wisdom, preparing graduates to excel in the global maritime industry.
